HMHA Peewee House League Day of Champions 2004-2005 Results Bronze Medal Game Russell Athletic 4, DaSilva Enterprises 1 Paul Ross opened the scoring for the Black Knights with assists going to Quinn Mardell and Colin Nurnberg with 7:49 left in the opening period but that was all the scoring the Knights would see today. Nicholis Charman responded midway though the period and added his second of the game in the 2nd period to give Maroon a 2-1 lead after two periods. Charman’s power play goal late in the 3rd finished his hat trick and Andrew Worley’s empty net goal sealed the 4-1 victory for Russell Athletic.
Silver Medal Game EPA Hespeler Physio 2, Low Down Hot Rods 1, Jordan McIlravey’s first goal of the year couldn’t have come at a better time as he knocked in a loose puck to give his team an early 1-0 lead with assists going to Brett McBurney and Thomas From. Nick Powell’s breakaway goal in the 2nd period gave EPA Hespeler a 2-0 lead. Seven seconds later, Brandon Loehle closed the gap as he, too, scored on a breakaway to make the game 2-1 going into the third. It was end to end action once again as the two teams were playing their hearts out. With the Low Down Hot Rods pulling their goalie, in the dying seconds of the game, goalie Tyler Popwell can thank his crossbar as a shot hit it then his team was able to clear the puck and earn the hard fought 2-1 win.
Gold Medal Game Enviro-Con 2, Maple Lodge Farms 1 (OT) As both teams hit the ice for this game, it was clearly evident that this was going to be an exciting game. Although Maple Lodge Farms had clearly dominated Enviro-Con during the season, MLF coach Joe Carvalho knew that this was for all the marbles. With his team entering the ice via the zamboni exit and through a large MLF banner, the team was pumped and Enviro-Con’s coach Al Finlay knew he had to pull out all the stops. The game was scoreless after one period as both teams had their chance of scoring opportunities. Late in the second period, Brandon Walsh scored unassisted for Enviro-Con and seemed to have taken control of the game. Bret Carvalho thought differently as he scored just 7 seconds later to tie the game. This put balance back into the game. Another scoreless 3rd period sent this 1-1 game into overtime with any team having a chance to take home the Gold. It was Brandon Walsh with his second goal of the game as he banged in Luke Reeve’s rebound for the game winner with 3:37 left in overtime to give Enviro-Con the Gold Medal with a 2-1 victory. |
